4 days 3 nights Orang-utan encounters

Day 1          Sandakan / Sukau
Arrive Sandakanand drive for 2 hours to the village of Sukau located in the lower Kinabatangan. Check-in at your overnight accommodation. [Lunch, Dinner]
(Note: Please book on any flight that arrives Sandakan after 12pm)

Day 2         Sukau - Orang-utan study site, afternoon cruise
Today, the adventure starts early by cruising to the Orang-utan study site. Orang-utan, the local name for these red apes, are usually active in the early morning and late afternoon. Accompanied by our nature guides, who are also trained research assistants with vast knowledge on Orang-utan behaviour and conservation, you will trek the jungle to look for the red ape. Return to the base for lunch. You will be at leisure until the late afternoon cruise for wildlife viewing. [Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner]

Day 3         Sukau - oxbow lake, night cruise
Cruise in the misty morning to an oxbow lake. Oxbow lake is like a crescent shaped lake lying alongside the Kinabatangan river. The lake is created over time and separated from the main river as erosion and deposits of soil change the river's course.It is also important as a breeding ground for fresh water fish. The quiet and serene lake is the best place for bird watching and sometimes wild Orang-utans are spotted here. In the evening, there will be a night cruise to search for nocturnal animals. [Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner]

Day 4         Sukau / Sepilok Orang-utan Rehabilitation Centre / Sandakan
At 7am after breakfast, we will leave for the Sepilok Orang-utan Rehabilitation Centre. The centre is an initiative of the Sabah Wildlife Department to rehabilitate and train young Orang-utans to survive again in the wild. The programme ends around noon. After lunch, you will be transferred to the airport for your onward flight. [Breakfast, Lunch]
