Gomantong cave & bat watching

This tour leaves in the late afternoon. The cave is half hour drive from the village of Sukau . Gomantong Caves is a habitat to millions of bats and swiflets. It is a limestone cave and one of the most unique cave systems in the world. It is commonly known for its edible bird nest. These nests are collected by the local people from the ceiling of the caves using traditional collection method such as manual labour and bamboo ladder. The floor of the cave is covered with millions of cockcroches feeding on the guano. Wooden platforms were built for easy walking. At dusk, it is an incredible sight when thousands of bats storm out of the caves to begin feeding on the insects in the jungle.
